The Rare Beer Club was founded by the late craft beer critic and writer, Michael Jackson (a different Michael Jackson). Since his passing, the staff at The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club has kept his legacy alive by continuing to search for exclusive, hard-to-find, and limited release beers, and getting them into the hands of their customers.
This unique club is committed to finding rare and new beers that are brewed both in the United States and internationally, and supplying them to their club members.
Many of these craft brews that have made the monthly lineup, are of the small batch variety, and were brewed exclusively for this club, and cannot be found at any pub, liquor store, or anywhere on the planet.
Rare Beers are what this club is all about.

How The Beers Are Chosen Each Month
The beers that are selected for this club go through the same strict beer selection process that all of their beer clubs do. This is to make sure that each and every one of the rare beers meets their quality expectations, so you always receive the best beer possible.
When testing theses beers to see if they should be included in the club, they are usually blind-tasted. The tasting panel will only know what style of beer they are drinking, not where it originated from.
In fact, only 20% of the beers tested, will be make final grade.
Each of the beers will be chosen on many factors including these five characteristics:
- Overall Character
Features Of The Rare Beer Club

Before you receive your order each month, you will get an email with details on the beer selections that were chosen, and give you the opportunity to customize your order. The same program is also available if you are giving the membership as a gift.
If you have a beer you liked from a previous month, you can add those beers or add more bottles of that months selections. You can also replace one or the other, or both of the selected beers with past selections. You also have the option to skip the entire monthly shipment completely.
You have much more control an flexibility when you join this club compared to other monthly beer clubs.
Why You Definitely Should Join The Rare Beer Club
The Rare Beer Club is for anyone that is interested in trying the best beer from exclusive breweries that are not always available locally where they live, or for that matter, not available anywhere.
Does this sound familiar?
You make a run to your liquor store intending to try something new, but always just revert back you your usual choice because you don’t know what to get. Walking down the long isle at you local liquor store looking at all the different craft beers that fill the shelves is a daunting task and can be a bit overwhelming.
Or maybe you are a craft beer connoisseur who has tried many different beers, but starting to run out of new things to try because everything looks the same and quite boring.
Well, you shouldn’t have to be the guinea pig when you want to try something new. As the President and Founder of The Microbrewed Beer of the Month Club, Kris Calef says, “We Drink A Lot Of Bad Beer……So You Don’t Have To.“
Let the experts at club be the lab rat and do the tasting and the beer selection process for you.
Why You Shouldn't Join The Rare Beer Club
If you are a fan of easy drinking beers like lagers, and certain ales, and the occasional IPA, this club is probably not for you.
Most of these beers are higher in alcohol content and bigger bodied than many beers that you find at your local stores or other monthly beer subscription services. These beers are usually aged in barrels and definitely has a much different flavor profile on your palate.
So if you or your gift recipient would prefer styles of the more traditional type, maybe this isn’t your club. But go ahead and check out the other four clubs that BeerMonthClub.com offers, and find one that would be a better fit.
- There is an option to get two, four, or six bottles each month
- Able to switch out upcoming months with past selections
- One of the most flexible beer of the month club
- The most expensive of The Microbrewed family of beer clubs
- Only two breweries are included every month
About The Membership
You will have three separate membership options within this one club. The first thing you need to decide is if you want two bottles, four bottles, or six bottles per month.
The minimum requirement is two months, but you can go all the way up to twelve months, or an ongoing membership. Just be aware that your credit card will be charged and your monthly beer subscription will continue until you cancel.
Then decide on what month you want to start, how often do you want to get a delivery (every month, every other month, or every three months) and if you would like to pay each month or in one installment. You can even skip the entire shipment for the month if you want.
There are often discount codes if you choose three months or longer, or pay it all up front.
What's Included In The Box
Depending on your membership, you will get either 2 bottles, 4 bottles, or 6 bottles of limited-release craft beer from two different breweries.
All the beers will come in glass 750ml bottles, and many of the bottles are corked just like a bottle of fine wine. In fact, many of these specialty beers are higher in ABV than other traditional beers.
Also included is their monthly newsletter with information on the profiles and history of the breweries and the beer. Many of these beers can also be aged, so the newsletter will include aging recommendations, best serving temperature, tasting notes, and suggested food pairings for each beer.
Arriving in a brown cardboard box, every one of the large 750 ml bottles is specially packed material to ensure the beer arrives in one piece instead of a bunch of broken glass
While the club can ship to most U.S. states, unfortunately, Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Utah are the states that the club cannot ship to.
Also, sometimes there might be an issue with certain zip codes if you want to have your shipment go to a rural address, but you will be notified when you sign up. Your order will usually be shipped and arrive during the last week of the month.
There also has to be someone who is at least 21 years old to sign for the delivery If you don’t think you will be home during delivery, you can always have it shipped to a relative or a neighbor’s house. (Just make sure they don’t drink it first)
They will leave a door tag and make another 2 attempts if there is no one there that can sign. After 3 attempts, the box will be shipped back and then will be re-shipped with another delivery charge.
Returns And Customer Satisfaction
The customer service is a strong component to all of their monthly clubs, not just their beer clubs. And all of the clubs have a 100% satisfaction guarantee.
They want you to be happy with every order. If something is wrong with your product, or doesn’t meet your standards, they will replace the product or refund your money.
Other Monthly Beer Club Options
This Rare Beer subscription service is just one of five Microbrewed memberships that you can join. In addition to this club, they also offer four other monthly club options, and each one focusing on the best beers from domestic and international breweries.
