Features and Benefits
This EdgeStar Digital Dual-Tap kegerator will look great in any room in the house or home bar. It is a full-size free-standing model and available in the standard black or the upgraded stainless steel.
The digital display allows for precise temperature control, a large interior cabinet space, and the dispensing components are all made of high-quality construction.
Large Internal Space
One of the main selling points of this kegerator is the large interior that allows for the most keg combinations compared to similar models on the market.
Because of it’s larger interior space compared to similar models, it can hold many different keg combinations, including oversized, full-sized, pony kegs, and Cornelius kegs.
- (1) Oversized Keg – (1/2 Barrel)
- (1) Full-Sized Keg – (1/2 Barrel)
- (1) Pony Keg – (1/4 Barrel)
- (1) Slim-Pony Keg – (1/4 Barrel)
- (3) 1/6 Barrel Kegs
- (3) Cornelius Homebrew Kegs
- (1) Slim-Quarter & (1) 1/6 Barrel
- (1) Slim-Quarter & (1) Cornelius Homebrew Keg
CO2 Tank Placement
Unlike most kegerators, this particular model has the option for the CO2 cylinder to be mounted inside or outside of the kegerator, depending on your keg configuration.
As an example, if you plan on using an oversized 1/2 barrel keg, the tank will need to sit outside of the unit, or if you are using three 1/6 barrel or three homebrew kegs, the CO2 tank will also need to be housed outside of the kegerator.
All other combinations should leave enough internal space for the cylinder to be mounted inside.
Digital Display
If you like your favorite lager ice cold, or prefer your IPA to be 45°F, the digital display feature will allow you to adjust and monitor the temperature so your beer is always at the perfect serving temp. It has a set temperature range between 32° and 50°F.
Deep Chill Mode
The deep chill mode is just what it sounds like. If you have a new keg of beer that is warm or not a cold as you would like it to be, just press the “deep chill” button and the rapid cooling system takes over, cooling the keg quickly.
All you have to do is press the same button again to return to regular cooling and your previous temperature setting.
Removable Drip Tray
No matter how careful you are when you pour yourself or your guest a cold one, some spillage just can’t be avoided.
The removable drip tray is easy to lift up, empty and clean up unwanted messes.
Included Casters
Although this kegerator is intended to be used as a stationary unit, it does come with four heavy-duty casters to help move around the room when entertaining.
Additional Accessories
Although a dual-pressure regulator is not a necessity for good beer, a keg cleaning kit most certainly is. The beer lines should be cleaned and sanitized each time you change out a new keg or a minimum of every two weeks.
Dual Pressure CO2 Regulator
As we said earlier, the one thing that should be included with this kegerator is a dual-gauge regulator. It doesn’t seem to make too much sense to have two separate tap dispensers for two separate kegs, but only have a single regulator included.
You can purchase this Taprite dual pressure CO2 regulator separately if you want to have full control over each keg.
Kegerator Cleaning Kit
One thing you will need to do periodically is clean the beer lines of your kegerator. This Taprite Kegerator Cleaning Kit is an “Amazon’s Choice”, and will remove bacteria, mold, and yeast from most manufactures beer lines.
This kit comes with the tools and enough beer cleaning compound to get about 10 to 15 cleanings. Each cleaning should only take you about 15 minutes to do, before you are ready to hook up your next keg.
Pros
- Digital control and monitoring
- Deep chill mode
- Holds oversized kegs
- CO2 tank can be mounted internally or externally
Cons
- Should come with a dual-gauge regulator but doesn’t
- Manual defrosting is required
Final Say
Yes there are less expensive models on the market, but the EdgeStar KC3000TWIN is a kegerator that you can feel comfortable purchasing. Being able to fit a variety of keg combinations and the dual beer dispensing taps is why this is one is worth buying.
Having the ability to rapidly cool down a warm keg, and being able to precisely set the desired temperature of the beer you are serving that day is an added bonus. One other feature that is not always available on other similar models, is having the option to mount the CO2 tank inside of the cabinet or externally.
If you are looking for a high-quality full-size kegerator to enjoy draft beer at home, we definitely recommend the KC3000TWIN model by EdgeStar.
Happy Brewing!
